Preparing English Language Teachers for Today’s Globalized World

This volume seeks to illustrate diverse approaches on how to prepare pre-service and in-service teachers, so that they can meet the manifold needs of their English language learners, considering not only the local context, but also the more general international context. The book is divided into four major sections: 1) ELF-awareness in pre-service and in-service teacher education; 2) Teachers’ attitudes towards the challenges of ELT today; 3) Teaching English in EFL contexts: insights on teaching materials and strategies; 4) What English to teach in higher education? The various chapters explore how English language teachers are being trained for today’s globalized world, how English is being taught across different countries and how the examples put forth may be adapted to other contexts.
